hi this idea has been percolating in my brain for years at this point and i'm never going to be able to put together a dwrp like it had originally come to be but i might actually be able to run a tabletop campaign about it
introducing UNTITLED ETRIAN ODYSSEY CAMPAIGN, title pending based on which system it ends up being run in. probably valor because the plot i have is anime as fuck but WE'LL SEE. without further ado:
Welcome to Erebus, an aging town situated beside Yggdrasil, a tree that stretches ever onward toward the heavens. Beneath its branches lies a Labyrinth, the depths of which have never been thoroughly explored, not due to lack of trying but because the villagers expressly forbade travel into it by anyone, from the village or not. As a result, its economy has been stagnant at best, and as fewer and fewer people move in as options for better-developed places to live, the population has naturally begun to decline, and the average age of the villagers increases every year. Combine that with a sudden influx of monsters escaping from the Labyrinth and violently rampaging through Erebus, and the result is that even a town with no interest in the outside world has to turn elsewhere for help.
You are an adventurer, assigned by the Guild to investigate Erebus, and are among the first people ever allowed in the Erebusian Labyrinth. You, and your fellow companions, will be the sole witnesses to what lies beneath...and the first to fully understand the history of Erebus, the reason they will not leave, and the mystery of the words carved into the gate allowing entry to the village:
Erebus will not forget.
This campaign will incorporate elements of fantasy and science fiction in a post-apocalyptic setting, ideally involving 3-4 people. It does not have an estimated start time because I need to actually get some practice DMing before getting this off the rails but start time is estimated to be mid-late 2022 at the earliest, potentially early 2023 if I need more practice than initially thought.
